Rajiv Syed prosecuted close to 200 cases for the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, where he was placed in Brooklyn’s busiest trial bureau. For over a decade, Mr. Syed has used those trial skills to protect the rights of his clients across New York City.

Mr. Syed entered landlord–tenant law in Housing Court as an active member of the Volunteer Lawyer for the Day Project, serving indigent and low-income clients. Today the office carries a caseload experience of over 1,000 matters across Housing Court, Civil Court, and Supreme Court, representing both residential and commercial clients — including successfully negotiating dozens of commercial lease terminations and defending businesses in Commercial Landlord Harassment cases under newly passed legislation.

Preserving civil rights has always been a passion: Mr. Syed is a former board member of the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) – Suffolk County Chapter, where he engaged in legal projects concerning Islamophobia, malicious prosecution, and the Real ID Act. He has also served pro bono with the Brooklyn Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyer’s Project, representing indigent clients on bankruptcy and foreclosure matters.

Mr. Syed speaks Bengali, Hindi, and Urdu fluently, and is deeply involved with the South Asian immigrant community to ensure his community’s rights are never violated.
